The flying area off St.André-les-Alpes is one of the most famous flying places of Europe. Since the Worldcup paragliding in 1991 there is a asphalt road all the way up the 'Chalvet' (1616 m). The drive to the top takes about 15 minutes. This can be done easily with your own car or you can go by taxi (navette) which will cost you about € 5,=.

Above there are three starting places which are all very nice and easy, a 1 minute walk from the car.

During the day the thermals can be very strong (after 13:00 hour), in the evening the thermals are is nice and smooth. Flying in oil as they sometimes say. From 18:00 till 21:00 hour you can fly until the sun goes down.
