Millau is a coming place for paragliders and hanggliders. Not well known
but very nice. In Millau you can start in every direction.
The thermals are not so strong as for example in St. André-les-Alpes.
Good for cross-country flying, 'simply' soaring and top landings.
La Puncho d'Agast (D1 and D2) is 840 m high. The height difference
to A1 and A2 is 480 m. A nice asphalt road all the up is only 8 km long.
Parking place on the plateau beside the starting places. Start directions:
west and south/south-east.
With north winds you can start from Brunas (D3) where you can
soar for miles and miles. Height difference to A3 is 220 m. Also a asphalt
road!
North of Millau there's Pic d'Anban (D4). Start directions:
south to south-east. Height difference: 190 m. But you don't want to go
there. The last piece of road up the mountain is not so good, very stony.
See the photo's. With wind from the south or south-east it's better go to
La Puncho d'Agast.
Beside flying, there are a lot of things to do: Climbing, Biking, Canoeing, Horse driving, Fishing etc.
Back in the year 1973 there weren't any hanggliders or paragliders
in Millau.
Yes, the little guy with blond hear seen on the back is me.
Back then it didn't cross my mind to fly that mountain.
